When exploring the island, visitors will come to realize that Kos has a diverse assortment of natural mineral water sources, including cold, warm and hot springs.
The most well-known are the hot waters of the therapeutic springs (Therma ) just past Agios Fokas, where the water temperature is at approximately 40ο C and contains a variety of beneficial elements including potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and chloride.
The hot springs (Therma) , whose water is said to travel under the sea from the neighboring volcanic island of Nisyros before surfacing here, were discovered by Italian archaeologist Luciano Laurenzi.
